Traditional gansey knitwear patterns in new and comfy styles for modern kids.

I married into the strong traditions of coastal North Norfolk over 40 years ago. Draughty cottages and rambling old houses meant temperatures were often the same inside and out and everyone I knew wore the distinctively patterned navy fishermen’s ‘ganseys’ pretty much throughout the year. My mother-in-law, Diana Hamond, first knitted me a baby gansey for our son, Nick Hamond, 39 years ago and that jersey is now the basis for my hand-knitted Gansey Kids knitwear. Using traditional local patterning and ‘anti-tickle’ machine-washable wools, I hand knit jerseys, shawls, hats and socks for 0–7 year olds, recreating the old patterns in new and comfy styles for modern kids. We also run a Bed & Breakfast and campsite at Scaldbeck Cottage. For more information go to B&B/Campsite.
